CHANCE

We received a call about Chance in June 2025 from a person in Topeka. He was homeless and suffering. She contacted all her local rescues and no one would help.

His left ear burned off. Severe stomatitis leaving him unable to eat. Severe dental issues.

And several other issues. We immediately flew him out on July 4th, 2024.

This is him today, after light treatments, dental extractions... He's still on medication, but he is thriving, thanks to all of his amazing KKR Aunties and Uncles!

MAMA CAROL

This sad photo is of Mama Carol. She'd given birth to litter after litter, only to have them die. We rescued her and her kittens from the rubble, and they are on our sanctuary.

hunny bunny

We'd been feeding Hunny Bunny for over a year. She wouldn't come out from under the dilapidated mobile home that she stayed all the time.

I noticed that she wasn't there for a couple days, so I went looking for her. She was laying in an open field, weak, hungry, dehydrated and in severe dental pain.

After months of medication, her stomatitis is dormant for now, but she will continue to be monitored. She had a full dental as well and suffers from pillow foot.

She is safe and loved.

REY

We were on our way to feed our colony cats when Marvin saw this little girl run to the side of a busy 6-lane highway. He immediately pulled over and backed up to where she was.

We thought she was paralyzed because she didn't move. She wasn't injured, she was paralyzed with fear.

We looked over and saw her brother's remains, and removed as much as we could. We immediately sought medical intervention. Surprisingly, she suffered no physical injuries, but she was bad, mentally.

We spent MONTHS nursing her back to help, doing whatever we could to keep her alive and gain weight. We essentially had to force feed her with syringe feedings round-the-clock.

One day, she just decided to live, and has eaten ever since. She is so loved and is one of our indoor sanctuary cats.

phoebe

Although it's been four years, I still mourn Phoebe's loss. We were just a year old as a rescue, but word traveled that we helped cats everywhere.

We received a call from a person in Houston. She saw Phoebe trying to eat garbage outside her house. She noticed that her jaw was terribly broken, caught her, and began making calls. No one would help, so she found us.

Phoebe was immediately hospitalized to surgically fix her jaw. The doctor said that he'd never seen such infection in all of his years as a veterinarian. He sent some tissue to the lab to determine what type of infection it was.

The results of the biopsy showed that it was the most antibiotic resistant infection ever. We couldn't do nothing, so the doctor talked about different options.

We knew that a high level of antibiotic would cause other issues, and it did. Days later, I received a call from the doctor and I knew she was gone. I could hear him choking back tears.

It was estimated that she had been outside, on her own, for about three months with a severely broken jaw, unable to eat, in immense pain, but fought to live.

She knew love in her final weeks. I only wish I could've held her. The staff sent me photos and videos every day. She LOVED their soup, she'd stick her entire face in the bowl.

I will never forget this warrior. My Phoebe.

teddy

Teddy showed up crying at one of our colonies a little over a year ago.  We immediately took him to an emergency vet.

He was dehydrated and malnourished, but he was on the cusp of losing his vision. We made an appointment to see our veterinarians, and they suggested a specialist.

He had severely ulcerated corneas and is still on two different medications, twice daily. Other than that, he is so healthy, happy, and loved beyond measure.

AYOUR & FAFA

Ayour and FaFa came to us via a special friend and SWAP partner. When she visited Morocco, she fell in love with these two, but couldn't bring them to the states because of Covid.

She promised them that she'd come back, and she did. We had so much interest in this brother and sister, and they finally found their furever mama, Katherine, in Texas! They are loved, happy, and healthy.
